The Foundation for Museum Quality Artesanías is a non profit organization (Chilean Crafts Foundation). The Foundation, which is supported by public and private funds, aims to rescue, preserve and promote Chilean traditional crafts as an expression of the cultural heritage and identity. Their main goal is to make Chilean and foreign citizens appreciate and value the quality of Chilean crafts work. In this way, it will be possible for craftspeople to develop a commercial and tourist venues that will dignify and revitalize their work.

These pieces are made by Mapuche craftsmen who have maintained their craft through many generations. The jewelry is made in miniature size of the original pieces that were worn by Mapuche women in past times, so they can be worn today as accessories for everyday use. This is an important part of their heritage and cultural identity. Crafts pieces are a testimony of the validity and diversity of the Chilean traditional crafts, knowledge passed on through generations which establishes a connection with the past. Craftsmen’s hands mold and create different techniques, making a complete universe of shapes and colors from a variety of materials.
