TARA Projects was founded in 1973 to help poorly organized and struggling artisans in Delhi find markets for their goods. By creating opportunities for these home-based craftsmen to market and sell their goods, TARA projects hoped to generate steady work and income. Based on the early success of this program, they have been able to spread to an area approximately 120 miles surrounding Delhi. TARA Projects unites thousands of individuals to produce a diverse collection of high quality, diverse and hand crafted items including glass jewelry, rugs, bedspreads, shoes and soapstone pieces.
