The Ruth and Nohemi Project, a widows and orphans group, began with a grant to buy 100 chickens to help feed their families. From the money saved from the sale of the excess eggs and invested in thread, it has now developed into a large weaving and sewing project which generates income for these widows and their children. The orphans work after school learning a viable trade for when they get older. The group has been forced to sell their goods in markets where fierce competition keeps the prices low. UPAVIM, has helped them bring their products to market in the United States. This in turn is enabling them to receive better wages and to make their project grow. Their products are big sellers!
