To rejuvenate many of the dying Indian handicrafts and improve the conditions of artisans, MKS is working hard to create a larger marketplace for their products. At the Children`s Welfare Society, a home for orphan girls and women in South Calcutta, young women are trained in sewing and blockprinting. In another, women involved in the "khadi" movement have formed a cooperative, producing leather purses.
