Filigree Paraguayan artisans specialize in unique and handcrafted jewelry which is a technique, dating back 5000 years to the ancient Egyptians. Many of these artisans come from low income families and are farmers. In South America this traditional form of art has survived only in the small country of Paraguay where a unique and elegant style has developed through generations of artisans. These artisans still follow the ancient method of spinning tiny threads of silver by hand into beautiful shapes – each piece becoming a unique work of art. One piece requires hours of concentration that can take from 8 to 38 hours of work. Items that are featured are exclusive and extensive design pieces such as earrings, necklaces, rings, pendants, bracelets and brooches from the simplest to the most elaborated pieces.
