Apikri`s objective is the development of local economy through handicrafts production and fair trade. It collaborates with small artisans by providing them the needed support and services and promoting the strengthening and expansion of their economic activities: access to credit, marketing services, product development, technical assistance, training and product commercialisation. The organisation works currently with 75 producer groups and seeks to improve the living conditions in their communities of origin. Apikri runs a retail shop in Yogyakarta, however, most of handicrafts are exported. Apikiri works in close collaboration with Pekerty (the major Fair Trade Organisation in Indonesia).
